The subject

The anthropological field studies different types of culture and societies as well as the interplay between social conditions and cultural ideas, both locally and in a global perspective. The method is based on fieldwork, case studies of individual societies and cultural phenomena.

Furthermore, cross-cultural comparative analyses are an essential methodical foundation. One of the anthropological characteristics is holism, the general impression, where emphasis is placed on individual themes and highlighted in a cultural context.

The discipline is similar to the British Social Anthropology and the American Cultural Anthropology.
